When I was a lad the World Series was the premier national sporting event – today of course it is the Super Bowl! In reading the sports pages I am totally blown away by the price of tickets for next Sunday’s game. I was fortunate to have attended Super Bowl III in 1969 at Joe Robbie Stadium in Miami, Florida. Remembering how I hated my dad bringing up the prices of his youth I still have to share with you my dear readers that the face amount of my ticket in 1969 was $12.50!  That same ticket today sells for $950!!! Of course, if you want that ticket you can expect to pay around $5700 in the after-market. The price tends to go down about a week before the event. This brings to mind that even though it is hard to fathom these numbers today how much more so would it have been to believe that it was going to occur that way back in 1969. This is one of the reasons I opted to start the Mathmatecum. No one can think in terms of how fifty or more years changes the economics of things .Current life expectancy here in Hawaii is presently 80.7 years while the futurists expect people will live to 120. Now is the time to place yourself and your youngest family members in the Mathmatecum providing yourself and them with substantial monies in your and their futures.

Whether you merely join the Mathmatecum or create a Mathmatecum Directive or even set up a Mathmatecum Protocol the near and far distant financial future will be greatly enhanced. The oldest in the Mathmatecum will recoup their financial commitment most quickly while the youngest of course will see it happen more slowly. Within the first five years three members have already received their total financial commitments. In the future the design of the Mathmatecum will make this happen even at a more accelerated pace.

Being at the 1969 Super Bowl was of course a not to forget experience and holds so many fond memories. The Jets were the biggest underdogs ever to win the Super Bowl and to have been there live. What a treat it was for me and three pals who flew from NJ to Miami and paid for a package that had us stay at the Castaways but with no tickets to the game. We all agreed that without a doubt tickets would be available from “scalpers”! No Stub Hub in those days! Tickets were being offered at the airport when we landed for a $100 apiece. We passed knowing they would get cheaper the closer it got to game time. Sure enough the night before the game we were able to get tickets for $35 each!  Only problem was there were only 3 tickets and we were a group of four. The next day, off we went to the game with the intent of buying two more tickets and selling one. Can’t remember how it happened but Jack and Mario went into the stadium to see the game and Pete and I were with one ticket between us. About 20 minutes before kickoff, we scored two tickets for $25 apiece and sold our extra ticket for $20.Pete and I had agreed before that if both of us couldn’t get a ticket we would go back to our hotel and watch the game on TV. God was with us that day!  When we got to our seats, we were in the same row ten seats away to our right was Vince Lombardi and his wife Marie. We were 45 rows up from the field, when good fortune strikes it is awesome.
