At the end of 2023 the Mathmatecum rolled out its Mathmatecum Directives. The response has been excellent! Formicalism (the new social and economic system) got a shout out this week when on the campaign trail an individual running for office said that billionaires should pay their fair share of taxes! This is nothing more than a shout out for the first implementation of a flat tax. No one, not Democrats or Republicans, seemed to have wanted that at the time Steve Forbes suggested it. The talking heads and most economists said it could not work. I believe they were short sighted because they ran numbers based on numbers that did not account for corporations paying taxes on all net income. I am not an economist; however, I know that eliminating all tax deductions from both personal earners and corporate earners would most probably allow for a tax l ess than 15%.
This week was filled with flashbacks for me. March 8th is not only my sister’s birthday but the anniversary of the first Ali-Frazier fight at Madison Square Garden in 1971. I had the good fortune to be there that night. I also saw in the TV section of the paper that the movie Journey 2 ” Mysterious Island” was airing. I once again watched myself walking across the TV as an extra in one of the early scenes of the movie. I am a product of the late 40’s – 50’s and movies were my go-to entertainment. In my wildest dreams I never imagined that I could go see myself on the big screen. Trust me it gives you goose bumps every time. And yes, I know goose bumps have now become chicken skin!
