One of my favorite times of the year is the early spring.  Professional baseball is about to start, the Masters is played, and college basketball is in full swing with its year ending tournament. All of these things are embedded in our society for so many years now that we take for granted their existence. That was not always so. Someone or some someone’s had to start the ball rolling to get where we are today. There was a time when the NIT basketball tournament was the definitive event to name the years champion. Through the strength of the NCAA, the power of NYC, and it’s Madison Square Garden have not only diminished but at present seem to be gasping for life going into the future. Things have a way of changing as time marches forward because no one had the foresight to see what was coming. For us here at the Mathmatecum after our first two years it became quite apparent that if the Mathmatecum was to grow faster there had to be a way for members to receive income that was greater than what was being earned without increasing risk. Most people seek instant gratification and a financial device that is not going to cost more than $125 in one’s lifetime cannot be expected to payout at a 10% rate until membership has been closed at least ten years. That is why like the changes in sports we have found a way to better provide passive income to our members on an accelerated basis. Rather than have each member stand-alone collecting income yearly they can also become a part of a Mathmatecum Directive.  In the future they will receive larger sums and help create along with passive income – generational wealth. At present the largest Matmatecum Directive provides its director six times the income he/she would have otherwise obtained.

Careful, careful is what seems to be the consensus of all the financial gurus based on not only things economic but political. The what ifs are more numerous than normal what with two full blown military events going on in Israel and Ukraine. To hunker down as they say and see what unfolds between now and the first weeks of November.

I knew he was a good deal younger than me, but I did not by how much. Now I know. Roberto Duran is 11 years my junior and I had the pleasure of watching him fight twice. remembrance of Duran came to me because he was recently fitted with a pacemaker and that made the news. I saw Duran fight Ken Buchanan a Scotsman and win a WBA title. The ending to the fight to this day is quite controversial. The fight that I saw that was less controversial was a fight that he lost to a young Puerto Rican fighter named Estaban DeJesus. Excitement in Madison Square Garden when the Panamanian lost to the pride of Puerto Rico was the most raucous I have ever experienced in my life!
