Just a reminder that on May 1, 2023, the rate on I-bonds dropped from 6.89% to 4.3%. However, the Members Money accounts yielded 6.3% for the month of April! Unless you have been refusing to keep up with current events the most important topic at the moment is a possible US government default which would severely affect the Mathmatecum. Of course, no one really knows what would happen if such an event would occur so I will not try to guess. I just hope the powers that be will act in a prudent manner.
I had promised to explain in detail our program titled a “Mathmatecum Directive” this week. I am going to beg off till this default sword of Damocles passes. Once the debt ceiling issue has been resolved I will elaborate on this exciting new addition to the Mathmatecum!
I have been adding of late a personal BIO to my weekly blogs. Two things have occurred that is making me reconsider how I have been doing that. First in rereading those writings I find them limited to the people who remember those times and places and frankly the last few weeks have made that audience smaller. I forget sometimes that at 81 years of age many of my contemporaries have already passed on or about to.
My choice is to now recount from my life experiences things that seem to be more universal and pertinent to people of all ages.
