My father, like most fathers, (good or bad) had a profound influence on me. Mostly for the good! In retrospect I think I know what affected me most from what he would say to me. He always tried to get to the truth mathematically. He had a mantra that as a kid drove me nuts. Now even at my advanced age I hear him “remember that you lie, I lie, everybody lies – but numbers never lie”! Simple as it sounds – what a truth to live by! If it doesn’t add up, then how can it be? Even when I tried cases in my youth, success came to me when I could show jurors that there was truth in numbers! When you ‘added’ up what was said by witnesses or by the experts who were in court to help prove so many contested propositions. Because of the foregoing, I named the membership organization that I founded the Mathmatecum.
People want answers when they place their money into any endeavor that purports to say that it will provide income over an extended period of time or in the Mathmatecum’s claim to provide income year after year during their entire lifetime. Unlike most income plans, the Mathmatecum does not have countless numbers of caveats as to what will transpire and states that there will be just two things that you must accept as true. First that the US government will honor its financial commitments and that income on a yearly basis will average no less than 2% per annum. Membership is not only finite but time constrained. That is to say that if full membership is not reached by 12/31/2040 then the Mathmatecum shall proceed to its designed conclusion.
With but a bit over three and a half months left to the year at least three members will have already received their entire cost of membership. This will be the beginning of the Mathmatecums sixth year of existence. Except for one of the first four years, interest income has exceeded 2%. At present all the members monies are earning above the 4.3% rate currently being paid on I-bonds. November 1st will see I-bonds reset for six months. The yearly distribution to members will occur prior to February 15, 2024.
