Another year has been completed for the Mathmatecum! I for one am over the moon with its progress because no matter how well planned – bringing an idea to fruition is never certain. I can now say uncategorically that the Mathmatecum is self-sustaining and will payout income to its members for years and years past my lifetime until its cessation. If not one more person joins the Mathmatecum after today and before 12/31/41 when membership closes (unless fully subscribed before then) there will be a final distribution conservatively of approximately $25,000. Not bad for a maximum membership cost of $125.
With four years under our belts and some changes from its inception, most notably fees charged to become a member, we are anticipating a bit of tweaking between now and the beginning of 2024. Fees will never go above the highest fee of $125 because the Mathmatecum has within its framework a dedication to affordability.
Here are two good ways to make life economically easier: do your best to live beneath your means and if you should receive a raise invest at least 50% if not 67%!

It’s been a week and because I’ve had that much time to think about what happened back in eighth grade that I would want my children and grandchildren to know I thought about how things were quite different then socially. Very important to one’s growing up and a rite of passage was learning to dance. Well, every Sunday night there was a dance in the school cafeteria where we were taught various dances and how to comport ourselves. There were many of us who were shy and so the parents devised a way to get us to mix and mingle. They had all the girls place one shoe in the middle of the floor and had the boys grab a shoe and then they would dance with the shoes owner. The story of these dances was recounted for years by my father who said that he once looked out on the dance floor and saw me being twirled like a bass fiddle by a classmate who was almost a full foot taller than me. I of course hated the recount of the story for the first twenty years but now in my dotage it has become a fond memory of those times!
